HMP Millsike Recognised at the Offsite Awards 2025
Recognised at the Offsite Awards 2025, HMP Millsike demonstrates the impact of early coordination and offsite MEP delivery at scale.
We were proud to join our client Kier Construction at the Offsite Awards 2025, where HMP Millsike was recognised with Best Use of MEP & Pod Technology.
The project also received Project/Construction Manager of the Year, highlighting the scale and quality of delivery across the entire team.
It was a strong moment for everyone involved and a great example of what can be achieved through a coordinated offsite approach.

Supporting the Delivery of HMP Millsike
Prefabricated Solutions Ltd (PSL) were engaged by Kier to support the project through detailed coordination and the design, manufacture, and delivery of multi-service MEP modules.
In total, PSL delivered over 400 prefabricated modules, all completed and stored ahead of programme, ready for early call-off.
The scope included:
- 411 workshop modules
- 80 corridor service modules
- 28 plantroom modules
By moving complex services into a controlled factory environment, the project benefited from a more consistent build quality and a more efficient installation process on site.
Early Coordination and Integration
A key part of PSL’s involvement was early-stage coordination.
Working alongside Kier and the wider design team, PSL contributed to integrating prefabricated elements into the federated model. This included aligning with MEP designers and architects to standardise key elements such as build works in coordination (BWIC) and door positioning.
Addressing these details early helped streamline installation and reduce potential issues on site.
A Collaborative Approach
From start to finish, the project was built on strong collaboration across all parties.
PSL maintained a proactive approach throughout, supporting the project team with problem-solving and ongoing aftercare to ensure works remained on track.
As Drew Tyrrell, Senior Mechanical Project Engineer at Kier Construction, shared:
“The work that has been done with PSL from inception to completion has been seamless… they still managed to teach us new ways to simplify complicated problems.”
Delivering Practical Benefits
The use of prefabricated modules and early coordination delivered clear benefits to the project:
- Reduced on-site labour requirements
- Improved installation efficiency
- Greater consistency in quality
- Enhanced health and safety conditions
These outcomes contributed to a more controlled and reliable delivery across the scheme.
Looking Ahead
HMP Millsike reflects a growing shift in how complex projects are being delivered across the UK.
Offsite construction, early coordination, and strong collaboration are playing an increasingly important role in achieving better outcomes.
We’re pleased to have supported Kier on this project and look forward to continuing that relationship on future schemes.
