Kier Group engaged Prefabricated Solutions Ltd (PSL) to design, manufacture, and deliver 68 multi-service cell riser modules and 100 multi-service roof distribution modules for HMP Lancaster Farms. The project followed the same requirements as HMP Northumberland, with identical scope and demanding delivery deadlines. PSL worked closely with Kier and the wider project team to ensure successful delivery on programme and within the original budget restraints.
Key Deliverables
- 68 multi-service cell riser modules
- 100 multi-service roof distribution modules

Project Highlights
Seamless Collaboration
From initial design through to delivery, PSL worked closely with Kier and the wider project team to maintain a coordinated and efficient workflow. Their proactive approach and willingness to engage early helped align all stakeholders, building trust and keeping the project moving without friction.
Efficient Design Integration
PSL were involved early in the design process, ensuring prefabricated modules were fully integrated into the federated model. Close collaboration with MEP designers and architects enabled standardisation across key elements such as Build Works in Coordination (BWIC) and door positioning, reducing complexity and improving installation efficiency on site.
Proactive Problem-Solving
During installation, PSL maintained a practical and solution-led approach. Challenges were addressed quickly and effectively, supported by strong aftercare, ensuring minimal disruption and keeping the programme on track.
Logistics and Installation Efficiency
Modules were delivered in line with the project schedule, reducing on-site labour requirements and simplifying logistics. This approach improved site safety, accelerated installation, and supported on-time project delivery.
Key Benefits
Improved Safety
Offsite manufacturing minimised on-site risks, creating a safer working environment for all project stakeholders.
High-Quality Output
All modules met stringent quality standards, with PSL’s proactive approach ensuring minimal disruption during installation.
Time and Cost Savings
Early design engagement and prefabrication simplified complex challenges, resulting in reduced programme durations and cost efficiencies.
